Way of working

Svep Design Center has, thanks to over 40 years of experience, created and refined our design process. With Svep’s expertise throughout the entire product development cycle, you as a customer, regardless of where you are in the chain, receive world-class assistance.

Development partner with extensive experience

We are proud of our design process, which has been developed through our hundreds of customer projects. If you would like to dive deeper into the different stages, you can read more below. Design processes are often not linear but iterative, meaning various stages are repeated and adjusted based on our collaboration and new insights gained during development.

In addition to the design process, Svep’s various certifications are a quality assurance for you as a customer.

System design

System design

What is included in a system design depends on the type of project, but the goal is always the same – to together understand and define what it is we want to achieve.

An important part of our process is to create a list of requirements for the product, both from the user’s perspective as well as from a technical perspective, so that we identify user needs, functionality, and performance requirements, while also considering any constraints such as budget, time, and resources.

This also allows us to create a project plan and an initial system overview of the product.

Concept design

In cases where the material from the system design is not sufficient to proceed, we can, based on the identified requirements and needs, develop a number of concept prototypes to explore different solutions before entering the development phase.

Software development.

Development

We begin by developing the overall architecture for the product, both for the software and the electronics, where we identify software blocks, key components, and special features, taking into account performance, reliability, efficiency, and cost.

Once this is done, we can start turning the design into a product — for electronics, this involves designing schematics and circuit boards, while for software, it means writing code and developing the software.

Elements included in this phase:

  • Applications
  • Cloud solutions
  • Embedded software design
  • Electronics design
  • Mechanical design
  • Prototypes (EP1, EP2)
  • Regulatory measurements
  • Manufacturing test systems
  • Manufacturing documentation

Test and verification.

Verification

The product is tested and evaluated to ensure it meets the requirements and functions as expected, so the customer can approve the product. This includes various types of tests such as functionality testing, performance testing, usability testing, system integration testing, as well as regulatory approvals for CE, FCC, and others.

Any deficiencies or errors discovered during testing are corrected, and the product is improved. This may involve going back to earlier steps in the design process to make adjustments and enhancements.

Handover

After the project is completed, we review the entire project together with the customer, allowing both our experiences and the customer’s to grow for future projects.

Once we receive project approval, the product is finally handed over to the customer, and any necessary documentation and support are provided.

Manufacturing

When the customer enters the manufacturing phase, Svep can assist with developing:

  • Quality requirements
  • Pilot production
  • Manufacturing optimization
  • Preparation for volume production

Maintenance

We can also assist with ongoing maintenance and updates to meet changing requirements and needs over time.

Project management

We know from experience that an involved customer is a satisfied customer. In most projects, we therefore work according to agile methods. This approach allows our customers to actively participate in the work. Through our planning tool, there is continuous access to the current project status, along with visibility into priorities and activity planning.
