EU MARKET ACCESS & PRODUCT ADAPTATION

Bring your product
to the EU market

Svep helps manufacturers outside the EU and European importers adapt products for the European market. Start with a GAP analysis, then work with our engineers through product changes, compliance, testing and documentation.

YOUR STARTING POINT

Product compliance GAP analysis

A product that works well in one market may need changes before it can be sold in the EU. We review your product, intended use, target countries and existing evidence to identify what is already in place and what still needs work.

Understand the requirements that apply

Several EU rules may apply to the same product. We define the scope from its functions, intended users and operating environment, so the work focuses on the requirements that matter to your market entry.

EMC & electrical safety

Help your electronics work reliably alongside other equipment. We review emissions, resistance to interference and electrical safety, identify the relevant requirements and plan the design changes and tests needed.

Radio & wireless products

For connected products, we assess the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) requirements relevant to safety, EMC, spectrum use and cybersecurity, and help adapt radio functions and supporting documentation.

Cybersecurity & CRA

Build security into the product and prepare for vulnerability handling, security updates and reporting. CRA reporting obligations have applied since 11 September 2026; the main requirements apply from 11 December 2027 for products in scope.

Accessibility

Check whether your product or related service falls within the European Accessibility Act and other relevant requirements. We help turn those requirements into practical changes to interfaces, controls, instructions and support information.

Machinery & product safety

Review risks, protective measures, safety-related controls and instructions. We help you prepare for the rules that apply at launch, including the transition from the Machinery Directive to the Machinery Regulation on 20 January 2027.

Materials & environmental requirements

Identify relevant requirements for substances, recycling and packaging. Depending on the product and market, this can include RoHS, REACH, WEEE and related documentation, marking and registration obligations.

Medical devices & MDR

For medical devices, we help assess intended use and risk classification under the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR), then plan risk management, testing and technical documentation. We identify clinical evidence needs and help prepare for assessment by a notified body where required.

Batteries & EU requirements

We assess which requirements of the EU Batteries Regulation apply to your battery category and planned launch date. This includes relevant safety, conformity, documentation, labelling and end-of-life obligations, with a plan for requirements that take effect in stages.

Test and verification.

Turn requirements into a product ready for Europe

Our engineers can work with your existing design and development team to implement the changes identified in the assessment. We bring the product and its supporting information into compliance.

Hardware & electronics

Adapt circuit boards, components, power supplies, connectors, shielding and enclosures. Resolve EMC and safety issues, build prototypes and verify the changes.

Firmware, software & interfaces

Update device behaviour, radio settings, security features and update mechanisms. Adapt user interfaces, languages and accessibility features to the needs of your target users.

Manuals & technical documentation

Prepare or revise installation, operation, maintenance and safety information. Coordinate the required language versions and assemble design records, risk assessments and test evidence.

Labels & packaging

Review and adapt product identification, manufacturer and importer details, required markings, warnings and instructions. Align packaging information, symbols and language versions with the applicable product and market requirements.

From first assessment to market entry

01

Assess

Review the product, target markets and available documentation.

02

Plan

Agree the gaps to close, responsibilities and route to verification.

03

Adapt

Implement hardware, firmware and product-information changes.

04

Verify

Test the changes, resolve findings and compile the evidence.

05

Support

Keep documentation and product security up to date after launch.

Test and verification

Svep combines electronics and software engineering with in-house EMC pre-compliance testing. We use early testing to find issues, support corrective work and help coordinate testing with external accredited laboratories where needed.

Regulatory documentation

We help organise the technical file, risk assessments, test reports and product information, and support preparation of the EU Declaration of Conformity where required. This gives manufacturers and importers a clearer basis for their compliance decisions.

Safety

Product safety testing

We help identify electrical, mechanical and thermal risks, plan and carry out or coordinate the relevant safety tests, and address weaknesses in the design. The work follows your product’s intended use and applicable standards. For consumer products, this may include the General Product Safety Regulation alongside relevant product-specific rules.

Climate chamber.

Battery testing & verification

We evaluate battery and charger safety, capacity, runtime, charging behaviour and performance across operating temperatures. We assess protection functions and integration with your product, help resolve issues and coordinate specialist compliance or transport testing where needed.

Support for manufacturers and importers

For manufacturers outside the EU

Work with a European engineering partner who translates EU requirements into clear and specific tasks for your product and production team. We help adapt an existing product or build the requirements into a new version.

For European importers

Understand what your supplier’s product and documentation actually cover. We help review available evidence, identify missing information and coordinate corrective work with the manufacturer before market entry.

Support continues after launch

Product changes, new components and evolving requirements can affect compliance. We help maintain documentation and plan follow-up verification. For connected products, Svep’s CRA Monitoring service supports ongoing security monitoring and response, with on-call coverage 365 days a year.

Planning to sell your product in the EU?

Tell us what your product does, where you plan to sell it and when you want to launch. Bring any existing manuals, design documentation and test reports. Together, we can define a GAP analysis and a practical plan for the work ahead.
